Xianda Group established Xianda (Tianjin) Seawater Resources Development Co., Ltd. (a wholly owned Hongkong subsidiary) in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, and will invest and construct Integrated Seawater Desalination and Salt-Making Project in Nangang Industrial Zone. On 4th October 2013, the project became one of the eight economic and trade cooperation projects of Malaysia-China Economic Summit. The Investment Collaboration Agreement was signed and exchanged with the witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Yab Dato’ Sri Najib.

 
The Integrated Seawater Desalination and Salt-Making Project covers an area of 900 Mu in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone. The total investment is around 15 billion yuan with 4.867 billion yuan of investment for the Phase One. As per the demand of the Municipal Government of (integrating seawater desalination and industrial salt making to realize zero discharge), the project will produce desalinated seawater, clarified water, de-mineral water and other types of water products. The concentrated brine in the production process will be used to extract chemicals, to make refined salt and deep processed products. The design was based on the principle of ‘environment protecting, energy saving, recycling and integrating’.

As an integral part of Nangang Public Utility Project, the Integrated Seawater and Desalination Project will provide other projects in Nangang with industrial water and basic raw materials after completion, which will address the water shortage of Tianjin for the development of heavy chemical industries and will release salt field for the plan of New Central City.

The project is of great social significance in terms of developing Bohai Bay, utilizing vast ocean resources, protecting Bohai environment, improving land use and promoting the development of salt industry. The project attracted social attention and has been reported in many famous newspapers and websites.
