After the NaCl salt has been extracted in the salt production process, the remaining liquid (called “bittern”) is first sent to the potassium chloride (KCl) plant to produce KCl. A combination of multiple effect evaporation, settlement, low temperature crystallisation and washing produces the KCl end product. The resulting KCl meets the most stringent industrial requirements.
