The project utilises Submerged Membrane Filtration (SMF) technology to clarify the seawater within the seawater intake structure itself in Bohai Bay. Clarified seawater is then supplied to users in the industrial zone as cooling water. This method produces high quality clarified seawater where the silt remains in the intake structure. As such, the project requires minimal land-use, dredging, and the use of disinfectants.
